Editorial Policy

This page explains how a calculator gets built, reviewed, and published on Jcinem, and what happens if we get something wrong.

1. Sourcing formulas

Every formula is sourced from an authoritative reference: a government agency (for example, the IRS or CDC), an industry standards body, an accredited textbook, or a peer-reviewed publication. We do not derive formulas from unverified blog posts or forum answers.

2. Verification

Before publishing, we run each formula against multiple hand-calculated test cases and, where possible, cross-check the output against an established reference calculator.

3. Plain-language review

A second pass checks that every input field, formula variable, and result is explained in language a non-specialist can follow, without sacrificing technical accuracy.

4. Updates and corrections

Tax brackets, interest-rate conventions, and health guidelines change over time. Each calculator page displays a "last updated" date, and we revisit tools tied to annually changing figures at least once a year.

5. Reporting an error

If you find a mistake, please contact us with the calculator name and the inputs you used. We investigate every report.
